My Lady Jane Season 2: Will It Happen? Everything We Know

My Lady Jane Season 2: Will It Happen? Everything We Know

Release Date: May not be happening anytime soon! (But we’ll provide the latest updates)

"Hey, you know there are no second acts! Or are there?" It was this intriguing question in the final episode of MY LADY JANE’s first season that kept us all hooked, thirsting for more. Can Edward de Vere, Thomas Parry, and John Lascelles really "play the game" now? Fans of the Hulu comedy-drama series had an absolute blast following Gortimer Gibbons Wildes’ adaptation of Jennifer L. Armentrout’s novel. Would season 2 be given the green light? Since June 2017 (that’s when the release schedule was announced), and nearly two years have come to pass, we assess where we stand.

A glance at the showrunners’ and writers’ careers reveals that the entire MY LADY JANE team has been too preoccupied with other project pursuits. Wildes produced their own show, aptly titled "Gortimer Gibbons Wildes presents…", while the story architect, Jennifer L. Armentrout herself focused on her other acclaimed titles, such as, in particular, the Mortal Instruments series. To that end, the creative forces appear absorbed in their respective priorities and haven’t yet reconvened to tackle ‘LJ2’.

Recent indications suggest that MY LADY JANE as an ongoing series is probably done. Hulu, considering they have a plethora of already popular shows like Riverdale, The Handmaiden’s Tale, as well as new content pouring out, may not entertain this particular project at current times. There does, however, exist faint light at the end of this tunnel.

Potential glimmers of hope surfaced via an interview with Jenée LaMarque (season 1’s female co-creator) talking to Entertainment Weekly. "[In] the world today… there’s a constant flow of information, like on social media, etc." LaMarque states: "If we weren’t doing it, how much would we miss an extra season of My Lady Jane?" She even teases: "If one more person says, `Would you do another [season]?’… The answer is yes [there’s a possibility in the future]." Be warned, though: keep that enthusiasm in check lest this tantalizing prospect crumble under the weight of, say, an unrealistic crowdfunding campaign.

In contrast to the uncertainty surrounding more MY LADY JANE, Hulu offers diverse, fresh content under production, such as upcoming fantasy series The Maid of Might and some in-development projects with ‘Rise of the Rest.’ No official commitment was made for a return journey with Edward, but in the event of revival plans, we can consider factors like:

If ever the creative team refinds the momentum to reconvene, they are guaranteed to receive an increased spotlight, as fans always respond positively to a great "what if" follow-up. Season one’s success and potential "what if" series-ender, combined, made for an unforgettable My Lady Jane experience. Time could be ripe for fans of the show to demonstrate to Hulu the value (yes, it’s financial but also emotional) fans and viewers would bring on the second season.

Conclusion

MY LADY JANE (2), as stated at the beginning, sadly isn’t a done and dusted green-lit project. Keep following the latest updates at My Lady Jane’s or even Hulu’s social network or official websites for now.

If you didn’t know already, then [now you do]? So, the question goes, will there be [enough] interest driving fans to demand a revivial? We can merely wonder, and wish that the show’s "if" becomes a new ‘when’ **As the world continues unraveling, the answer must first come from the My Lady Jane team themselves regarding another season.
