Austin & Ally ★ Then And Now

Nostalgia alert! Those who grew up in the 2010s should remember the delightful Disney show "Austin & Ally." The show premiered in December 2011 and instantly became a favorite among teenage audiences. It followed the lives of two teenagers with different backgrounds, Austin Montgomery (Ross Lynch) the charming and popular rock artist, and Ally Dawson (Laura Marano) a shy and talented songwriter who lived in a music department store. Let’s journey back in time and have a look at the lead actors, then and now.

The Cast THEN

Ross Lynch, aged 17 at the starting of the show, burst onto the scene as Austie, the lead songwriter and performer of the act "Austin Moon." During the show’s run of four seasons, Ross starred in several music videos of the fictional band, collaborating with real-life artists for some of the songs featured on the show. "We’re Never Gonna Dance Again" and the hit single "Breaky Boy" remain fan favorite tunes.

Laura Marano, 16 when auditioning for the role of Ally, portrayed the songwriting genius and introvert who often struggled to reconcile her creative side with life outside the music store walls. Her talent as songwriter and performer resonated through the show’s catchy plotlines and catchy tunes by Ally’s alter ego,"The A-list."

Zendaya, now a leading actress and pop sensation under her birth name, born Zendaya Coleman, became the show’s third component as Trish De_la Vega, Austin’s fanatical and fiercely loyal entourage. As Trisha, she became a go-to confidante on set, even getting occasional screen time for her exceptional singing and acting skills beyond the supporting character.

As the show continued, real-life friendships and relationships would develop among the cast amidst the fictional characters’ evolving storylines. Ross Lyne, Zendaya,
